Polyethylene (PE) PE’s usefulness is due to its light weight, excellent chemical resistance, ease of processing, and relatively low cost. There are three basic types of PE resins:
Application: PE can be processed through injection molding. It is used to create trash cans, dishpans, pails, and lids. Extrusion is used to process over half the PE sold in North America into film. Packaging film includes stretch and shrink wrap, grocery bags, laundry and dry cleaning bags. PE can also be used to make sheet, profile, pipe, and tubing.
